Why Dead Bang Rubber Makes a Big Difference for Non Pop Lids
Cast iron valve box lids - a noise nuisance since the beginning of their existence. While they serve an important purpose, anyone that has ever walked by one, driven by one, or lived near one knows just how annoying the constant rattle can be. Valve box lids cover water, gas and sewer valves so that people do not have access to them and risk of injury is prevented. But, conventional cast iron valve box lids have a tendency to roll out, or shake and rattle around if a car drives over them or they get shaken or bumped in any way. The noise is annoying and by rolling out there is a risk of injury to not only workers but citizens as well. But, cast iron was durable and it worked so the challenge was coming up with an effective alternative that still did its job but also reduced noise and prevented roll out. SW Services did this with its Non-Pop Polymer Lid for valve boxes.
SW Services' Non-Pop Polymer lids are constructed of Fiberglass reinforced nylon that is impact resistant and capable of withstanding the typical wear and tear that conventional lids have had to stand up to. Additionally, they are made of Dead-Bang™ Rubber, and it is the Dead-Bang™ Rubber that helps dramatically reduce the traditional noise annoyance that has been association with conventional cast iron valve box lids as well as the common roll out problems. That "clanking" road noise everyone hears when a car passes over cast iron valve box lids - gone with Dead-Bang™ Rubber. What many people do not realize, unless they work for the government, is that on any given day governments receive frequent noise complaints about the annoying rattle of cast iron valve box lids. By making the simple switch and implementing SW Services' Non-Pop Polymer lids, governments and municipalities can dramatically reduce valve box lid-related noise complaints. The retention seal of the valve box lid is composed of Dead-Bang™ Rubber (Elastomer composite) which helps reduce the shaking and rattling that causes irritating noise and by holding the lid in place, reduces roll out which prevents accidents and helps reduce debris damage. Governments considering implementing new valve box lids may have concerns that the materials will not hold up as well as cast iron but the high quality materials with which Non-Pop Polymer lids are made are actually designed for many years of service even in high traffic areas. In fact, they are highly resistant to UV light, Ozone, Hydrocarbon fluids such as oil, gasoline and brake fluid, antifreeze and all chemical associated with the roadway environment and are even capable of operating at temperatures in excess of 250º F. Dead-Bang™ Rubber is the way of the future for valve box lids and the time is now to start implementing them so that noise complaints can be reduced and safety improved.
